School officials have banned a Black History Month video after some parents say it promotes white guilt. The four-minute video features an actual race between white and non-white athletes to show the actual advantages and disadvantages each student will face at some point in their lifetime.

The video was shown last week at a high school assembly in Virginia, causing some community members to rally against what they call a racially divisive video.

“The reality of it, it’s over. The aftermath of it is poverty pimps who will not let it die,” said Craig Johnson of WLEE News Talk 990AM in Richmond, VA. He continued, “They are sitting there watching a video that is dividing them up from a racial standpoint.
It’s a white guilt kind of video.”

After receiving backlash from the local and national media, the school board released a statement to the Washington Post, saying, “It is our goal to prevent the recurrence of this type of event. School leaders have been instructed not to use the video in our schools.”

So our Question of the Night: Do you think this video should have been banned?
