LANCASTER, SC — Troopers are investigating an accident that claimed the life of one person Thursday afternoon.
Troopers say Shirlon Covington of Lancaster was heading west on SC 903 around 3:30pm yesterday when she hit another driver in the side as they were pulling off of Hilldale Drive.
Covington was taken to a local hospital for injuries. The other driver was extracted from the vehicle and flown to CMC. Officials there then pronounced the second driver dead.
Officials say both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
