Huntersville Fire Station the Latest Hit by Thieves
Bill Suthard, from Huntersville Fire Department says, “Unfortunately the recent trends of thefts at fire station parking lots have made it’s way to Huntersville.”
You can see the shattered glass in these images, where thieves broke into several vehicles.
Huntersville Fire Department posting these photos along with this message on twitter this morning.
“Sorry to report, but last night, we turned off the ‘auto tweets’ of our calls for service thieves targeting stations while ffs are on calls.”
“I can’t even figure out why someone would even consider doing something like this. We’re talking about men and women in the fire service that are on duty serving the community.” says Suthard.
But that could be what’s attracting the thieves, knowing the firefighters are not watching.
“It’s late at night usually firefighters are on call or in bed,” says Suthard.
To date, firemen in Charlotte, Huntersville, China Grove, Cornelius, Kannapolis & Mt. Mourne have all been targeted over the last couple weeks.
Several firearms were stolen from Charlotte fire houses. Now they say they will stop placing auto notifications on twitter to let people know they are working fires, because that could tip off thieves.
But say the community support has been overwhelming.
“Positive thing out of this town of Huntersville, as a community stood up and said this is unacceptable. The fact they are willing to stand with us they want to help say this isn’t right make us feel good,” says Suthard.
