Investigation Underway After Threat Found In Bathroom At Sun Valley High School

Officials with UCPS say the threat was found written on the bathroom wall several weeks ago, and so far has not been found credible. School officials and the Union County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the issue which they say they are taking very seriously.

Officials say there will be extra security on the school’s campus today, but the school will operate on a normal schedule.

UCPS says parents were sent the following message around 9:45am on Connect Ed about the situation:

“There is information circulating on social media about a possible threat at Sun Valley High School. This possible threat was found written on a bathroom wall a few weeks ago and so far, it has been unsubstantiated. School administrators and the Union County Sheriff’s Office are aware of this information and there is an investigation into this matter. We are taking this situation very seriously. However, the threat has not been found to be credible. As a precaution, there are additional officers at the school today. Because this is an active investigation, additional details about this matter cannot be shared at this time.”

MONROE, NC — Union County Public School officials confirm they are working with local law enforcement to investigate a threat that was written on a bathroom wall at Sun Valley High School.

The Union County Sheriff’s Department also confirmed that deputies are investigating the situation.

According to posts on social media the message was written on a wall in a boy’s bathroom at the high school. The message warned that there would be an attack at the school today, February 29th.

Some parents have also posted messages saying they were keeping their kids home today out of concern.
