UPDATE: Authorities have identified the driver in the fatal crash as Thomas J. Pruitt, 24, of Kings Mountain. The husband and wife, who were sleeping and died in the accident, have been identified as Johnnie Newton, 74, and Naomi Newton, 76, of Fallston, N.C..
The investigation is on-going and the driver may face charges.
FALLSTON, NC — Two people have died and one is recovering after a truck crashed into a home overnight causing it to explode.
Officials say the accident happened around 10:30pm Sunday on East Stagecoach Trail in Cleveland County. A pick-up truck crashed into the home hitting propane tanks that caused the explosion.
Three people were injured in the accident. Officials say two of the three injured have died as a result of their injuries.
The home was destroyed and reduced to rubble following the explosion.
No word yet on what caused the driver to hit the home. Officials have said that the driver will be facing charges, but have not said what those charges will be.
