AG, Governor Disagree On CLT Ordinance
RALEIGH, NC– North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper says there are bigger issues to worry about than Charlotte’s updated Non-Discrimination Ordinance.
City Council voted last monday to add LGBT protections to the ordinance.
One of them allows transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice.
Governor Pat McCrory says the state legislature will likely address the ordinance in late April.
Today, Cooper would not say if he supports Charlotte’s decision, but he did say issues like job creation and teacher pay are more pressing. The Democrat hopes to unseat Governor McCrory in November.
