UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies arrested a Porter Ridge High School student for reportedly posting threats on his Instagram account.
Investigators say 17-year-old Justin Cassidy admitted to making the threats on his social media account but claimed they were a hoax.
However, Cassidy has been charged with making a false report concerning mass violence on an educational property, which is a felony.
Cassidy was arrested Thursday and released after posting a $5,000 bond.
Earlier this week, deputies investigated threats found on a bathroom wall at Sun Valley Middle School. Investigators say they have identified the 14-year-old student who wrote the threat and felony charges will be pursued in the case.
