ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — Police say an argument between neighbors led to a chase that ended with a man shooting into a Trooper’s home.
Officials say 21-year-old Ethan Young was firing a rifle Thursday night off Damascus Church Road in Hiddenite when he was approached by a neighbor complaining that some of the bullets were landing close to his residence.
An altercation ensued between the two men and neighbor wrestled the rifle away from Young. Young then allegedly produced another weapon and began following the neighbor in a vehicle, firing multiple shots at the neighbor’s vehicle.
The neighbor stated he knew that a State Trooper lived off Johnson’s Farm Road and he went there for possible assistance. Young drove to the Troopers house and fired at least 7 shots striking the home. The Trooper and his family were not home at the time of the incident.
An officer was called and Young was taken into custody. He has been charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to kill and Felony Discharging a weapon into an occupied residence or vehicle.
