NEWTON, N.C. — A Lincoln County woman has been sentenced to a minimum of 16 years in prison following the stabbing death of her husband in 2014.
Donna Thomas Harris, 56 of Hudson, North Carolina, pleaded guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced to 16 to 21 years, for the stabbing death of her husband in April of 2014.
Authorities say police responded to a stabbing at an apartment complex on April 22, 2014 where William Daniel Harris III was found suffering from stab wounds to his chest and hand.
Mr. Harris told officers that his wife, Donna Harris, had stabbed him. Other people at the scene who William Harris sought for assistance said that he had told them the same thing.
Police found Donna Harris in the couples apartment along with evidence consistent with a stabbing. Investigators determined that the couple had a volatile relationship that escalated into the stabbing death of Mr. Harris.
Donna Harris previously served 6 to years for 2003 shooting death of Gary Wayne Hollar. She pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in 2004 and was released in 2010.
