CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two teenagers are facing charges after police say one of the teens fired shots near officers.
Police were responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call Wednesday night. When officers arrived on the scene, they received information that the suspect was on Milton Road near Barrington Drive.
Plainclothes officers were in the area when someone fired shots into the air. Officers followed the two suspects into the woods.
After a brief foot chase officers took a 14-year-old and 13-year-old into custody. The 14-year-old has been charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting within the city limits, possession of a firearm by a minor and resisting arrest. He was then released to the custody of a parent.
The 13-year-old was charged with resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.
