U.S. Declares Genocide In Iraq and Syria

The U.S. believes ISIS is committing genocide in Iraq and Syria.

Secretary Of State John Kerry has officially used the term to describe the attacks against Christian groups and other ethnic and religious minorities in the region.

He made the distinction official Thursday at the State Department. Genocide is a word the State Department has been reluctant to use.

“Daesh is genocidal by self-proclamation, by ideology and by actions in what it says, what it believes and what it does.” Secretary Kerry said.

The last time the Government declared a genocide was in 2004.

But Monday, The House Of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution to use the term to describe ISIS attacks.
