Concord Police Officer Arrested For Sexually Assaulting Teenager

CONCORD, N.C. — A Concord Police Officer is facing serious charges after being accused of sexually assaulting a teen girl.

The victim reported the offenses to investigators on February 11th.  The alleged crimes happened between August 2009 and January 2015.

Douglas Buckwell, 42, has been charged with 1st degree statutory rape, staturtory rape, 1st degree statutory sex offense, statutory sex offense, indecent liberties with a child and misdemeanor child abuse.

Buckwell was also a school resource officer at Central Cabarrus High School.  Buckwell was placed on administrative leave without pay and his police powers were suspended pending the outcome of the sheriff’s investigation.

Police do not believe any of the criminal acts happened while Buckwell was on duty or while serving as a Concord Police officer.
