Both the House and Senate signed off on “House Bill 2”, overturning Charlotte’s Non-Discrimination Ordinance.
The measure would repeal all local LGBT nondiscrimination ordinances in the state, and require transgender people to use the restroom that matches the gender on their birth certificate.
Supporters of House Bill 2 say banning local anti-discrimination laws will protect the religious rights of business owners.
Critics say the new bill writes discrimination into state law.
