Six Teens Arrested For Felonies In Crime Spree
CHARLOTTE, NC– “It was very concerning,” said Stafford development resident, Tameka Pickett.
Neighbors living in the Stafford development, near Rocky River Road found themselves in the middle of a crime spree. One neighbor doesn’t want to be identified after the suspects ran through her backyard.
“Came around the front to see them running across the street realized something was going on and called the police,” said the neighbor.
Police arrested Jamil Davis, Demarcus Davis, Rasheed Williams and three other juveniles and charged them with felonies, four home break-ins, stealing six cars, and trying to rob three stores including two guns stores.
“These are very significant acts, we are seeing more more significant trends in terms of this activity by juveniles,” said CMPD Capt. Brian Foley.
Police say this is a perfect reason why they are constantly working on grants for programs helping at risk juveniles.
“What we would like to do is be able to stop individuals juveniles who are committing misdemeanor crimes before they take that next step to felonies,” said Capt. Foley.
Like the teens who terrorized these homes.
“It’s very scary because I was in my living room with my 3 year old daughter and it was next door to me so they could have just as easily picked my back door,” said the neighbor.
Police credit neighbors with quick response, and using a Next Door app to identify the suspects.
“One of the neighbors was actually taking pictures with her camera phone and she saw them going throughout backyards of other neighbors houses so that’s how police were able to identify them and the vehicles,” said Pickett.
