CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB Charlotte) — Georgia Tech fired its men’s basketball coach on Friday and naturally, within minutes, Charlotte 49ers head coach Mark Price’s name was lobbed into the mix as a potential replacement.
Price starred at Georgia Tech from 1983-1986 and his 2,193 career points is third all time.
An ESPN reporter who is well-respected in the college basketball community tweeted this:
Two names that will likely be in the mix at Ga Tech: Former Yellow Jackets star and Charlotte coach Mark Price and Duke asst Jeff Capel.

Price wrapped up his first year at Charlotte with a 14-19 record. Fostering a young roster, Price’s 49ers finished strong in Conference USA play with a solid 9-9 record.
Georgia Tech’s opening comes after the team fired its head coach Brian Gregory after five seasons. He had a 76-86 record at Georgia Tech.
