CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB Charlotte) — Mark Price says he remains committed to being the Charlotte 49ers basketball coach.
Price issued this statement after heavy speculation tied his name to the potential opening of his alma mater — Georgia Tech.
“I wish my alma mater Georgia Tech well in its search for a new head coach. I am committed to the Charlotte 49ers men’s basketball program. I am excited and very encouraged by the progress that we made this past season. We are very appreciative of the great support that our program has received from the University, the athletic department, the community, and the fans of Niner Nation. I am excited about the players that we have returning to our team and the progress that they made this past season. I am also excited about the players that we are adding to our team and what they will provide for our program moving forward. I feel that the future is bright as we continue to build something special here at Charlotte.”
The 49ers finished 14-19 in Price’s first season as head coach.
