Neighbors Describe Chaotic Scene in Community Where Lieutenant Shot
CHARLOTTE, NC – Neighbors describe a chaotic scene in the community where CMPD Lieutenant Andy Harris was shot Saturday night.
“I was actually told I could have been killed. You know, if it hit the right way, you don’t know,” says neighbor Shannon Quinn.
Quinn showed where three bullets pierced her townhome during the shoot out on Honey Hill Lane. “And I heard all kinds of commotions and bullets and it was just really scary,” she explains.
Neighbors woke up Sunday to find police still marking evidence and canvassing the community. They describe commotion and people fighting before police arrived.
“I heard gunshots, or a gunshot, and realized that I was a little closer than I wanted to be,” says neighbor David Seeley.
Seeley watched as more and more officers arrived. He says he saw Lieutenant Harris being helped into an ambulance. “A policeman comes running by me, saying, ‘I’ve been shot! I’ve been shot!'” he says.
The light of day revealed more damage than neighbors expected. There were bullet holes in cars and fuel leaked out of a van after neighbors say the gas tank was hit.
