CMPD Officer Injured, 2 In Custody After Breaking & Entering

CHARLOTTE, NC — Two men are in custody after police say they broke into a home on Carrot Patch Drive this morning.

Officers responded to a B&E call on the 9200 block of Carrot Patch Drive around 11:45 Monday morning. A resident of the home was inside when police say two men kicked in the front door.

When officers arrived the suspects were trying to leave in a vehicle.

One suspect fled on foot and the other in a vehicle. The suspect in the vehicle crashed on Lakeview Drive while trying to escape and was taken into custody. The other was located a short time later and is being questioned by detectives.

One officer received minor injuries during the incident and was taken to a local hospital.

Investigators are also trying to determine if these suspects were also involved in an earlier breaking and entering call on the 8400 block of Rego Street around 11:13am. Officials say a witness description of the vehicle appears to be the same.
