BASE: NC State downs Charlotte at BB&T Ballpark, 7-1
CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB Charlotte) — NC State’s (17-8) Joe Dunand collected a pair of hits and three RBI in a 7-1 win over Charlotte (12-13) on Tuesday night at BB&T Ballpark.
With the bases loaded and the Wolfpack leading 1-0 in the fourth inning, Dunand slapped a double in the left-center-field gap. Two would come across to score and a third would be plated on an errant throw.
NC State added extra insurance with single run innings in the fifth, eighth and ninth frames.
Wolfpack starter Brian Brown (3-0) threw three innings of shutout ball while striking out three and not allowing a hit to pick up the win.
The 49ers lone run was plated in the ninth inning with a Logan Sherer one-out double.
Charlotte will host a three-game series against Southern Miss beginning Friday at Hayes Stadium.
