UPDATE: Salisbury Police have now classified the suspicious death as a homicide. The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Joseph Walker of Salisbury.

SALISBURY, N.C.– Salisbury Police are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found inside an apartment Sunday morning.
The Salisbury Fire Department was called to Alexander Place Apartments on Hamilton Drive after reports of smoke in the apartment. While investigating, they found an unidentified body in the apartment.
The State Bureau of Investigations is assisting with the investigation.
