Police Arrest Larceny Suspect after Chase

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Deputies arrested a Gaston County larceny suspect on Tuesday following a 3-mile long chase.

Deputies attempted to stop the suspect on Gastonia Highway, but the driver ignored the signal to pull over and sped onto Tin Mine Road. He then crashed into a guard rail on Southside Road.

The driver, 29-year-old James Jenkins IV, was charged with one felony count of Speed to Elude Arrest, Larceny of Motor Fuel, Open Container of Alcohol in a Vehicle, and several other violations. Jenkins faces outstanding warrants from Gaston County for Misdemeanor Larceny and First Degree Trespassing.

Jenkins was transported to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center after being placed under a $5,500 secured bond.
