CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD is looking for a green minivan that was involved in a fatal hit and run accident Monday afternoon in north Charlotte.
The accident happened around 5:12pm Monday on Mallard Creek Road at the intersection of Keaton Avenue. Officers say a green minivan turned left off of Keaton Ave and hit the back right side of Keith Ricks’ Harley Davidson.
Ricks and his bike slid into oncoming traffic and were hit by a PT Cruiser. Medic pronounced Ricks dead on the scene.
Police say the van fled the scene before officers could arrive and was last seen turning right onto W.T. Harris Boulevard then heading southeast towards I-85.
The suspect was caught on NCDOT cameras nearby. The van is described as possibly being a 1992-1998 Mercury Villager or similar type van. It is dark green with a roof cargo rack, tinted license plate frame/cover, and light gray wheel covers. It is faded and may have damage to the front right corner with a possible damaged corner or parking light. The driver is also described as a Hispanic male, no facial hair, and dark short hair.
