GASTON CO., N.C. — Gaston Co. Police charged a Dallas man with two counts of felony animal cruelty after they say he killed a puppy by throwing it off a second story apartment stairwell landing.
Police say the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute. Quavon Ryan Diaz, 19, is accused of first throwing a nine-week-old Chihuahua puppy belonging to his former girlfriend 10-15 feet in the air and then dropping it off the second story apartment stairwell landing. The puppy died from the injuries sustained during the fall.
Police say they conducted several interviews and consulted with the District Attorney’s office before making the arrest.
Diaz is currently in the Gaston County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
