Monroe Woman Charged with Setting Multiple Fires

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Police have arrested a Monroe woman for a series of arsons that began over a year ago.

Kimberly Cox, 49, faces multiple charges including breaking and entering, burning personal property, and arson.

On March 27th, a house fire was reported on Ken Ryan Drive. Cox was allegedly the person who alerted the homeowner about the fire. The homeowner and her pet escaped unharmed. Officials determined that the fire was intentionally set.

The next day, the victim reported that someone entered her home after the fire and stole cash and prescription medicine.

That night, a fire was set at an unoccupied home on Duncan Road and a vehicle was set on fire on Ken Ryan Drive. Officials determined that money and prescription drugs were stolen.

On Friday, Cox was questioned about these events and admitted to starting the fires and stealing the cash and drugs.
