Police Say Argument Caused Crash That Killed 2, Including A Child

[UPDATE]

Investigators say an argument caused a single vehicle crash Monday evening that killed two people, including a child, and injured one other.

After interviewing several witnesses investigators say it appears that the driver, 33-year-old Vanessa Adams, and the passenger, 33-year-old Crystal Day, got into an argument just before the crash on East Independence Blvd. Day then grabbed the steering wheel causing the vehicle to hit the guardrail and flip.

Adams was killed in the accident along with Day’s six-year-old child, Gianni Espinoza. Day was seriously injured and taken to CMC.

Officials say neither Adams nor Day were wearing seatbelts and the child was not properly restrained in a child seat.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash also, but there is no word yet on if alcohol played a part.

Crystal Day has been charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of child neglect. She is currently at CMC but will be taken into custody upon her release.
