32 Charged in Drug Bust, 12 Still Wanted

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — 32 people have been charged in a Kannapolis drug roundup. 12 people are still wanted by police.

The Kannapolis Police Department has beenΒ conducting an undercover operation to address the suddenΒ increase in opiate related overdose cases and other drug complaints received.Β On TuesdayΒ morning, officers began roundingΒ up and arresting suspected drug dealers in the area.

Charges are still pending againstΒ 12 additional individuals. The 32 individuals are wanted on a total of 112 criminalΒ charges. 16Β are known convicted felons and 6Β of the 32 are currently onΒ active probation.

β€œWe are pleased that we were able to arrest these individuals today. We areΒ sending a message to criminals. If you are thinking about dealing drugs inΒ Kannapolis or in Rowan and Cabarrus County – you need to think again. WithΒ this operation we are letting criminals know that we do not tolerate drugs in ourΒ city. We will continue to investigate and arrest people who are working to disruptΒ our community,” said Kannapolis Police Chief Woody Chavis.
