Freedom Division patrol officers responded to a shots fired call for service in the 3400 block of Forestbrook Drive. When officers arrived on scene a male subject inside a second story apartment exited on to his balcony and began shooting at officers, striking a patrol vehicle.

While the subject was shooting at officers, Officer Jacob Meadors returned fire. The subject then retreated back into the apartment and multiple officers, Swat, and negotiators were called to the scene.

A short time later, members of the SWAT Team entered the apartment and located the deceased subject inside. He has been identified as 34-year-old Carlton Antonio Murphy. His family has been notified of his death.
