Lenoir Police & SBI Are Investigating An Early Morning Officer Involved Shooting

LENOIR, NC — Lenoir Police and the SBI are investigating an early morning officer involved shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

Police were called to 1914 Starcross Road around 1am Friday morning after residents said Harold Houser, III had fired multiple shots into a neighbor’s house and at a passing vehicle. No one was injured during those shootings, but when officers arrived and confronted Houser they say he shot at them.

Officers returned fire, hitting Houser, and took him into custody. Houser was taken to Caldwell Memorial Hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The SBI has been called in to assist in the investigation. Lenoir Police Department says several officers were involved in the shooting and they have all been placed on administrative leave under department practice and policy.

The investigation is ongoing. Officials say it is unclear at this time as to what charges Houser will face.
