CATAWBA CO. — An 8-year-old boy was hit by a car near Claremont at 1:36 p.m. Sunday.
The boy rode his bike into the road next to his driveway on Deal Road.
North Carolina Highway Patrol said the boy suffered severe injuries to his left arm and was taken to Catawba Valley Medical Center then flown to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem.
Troopers are looking for a white man driving a dark-colored 2005 or 2010 Pontiac G6 that may have damage to its right front quarter panel.
