Panthers add another Cornerback and Tight End on Day Three of Draft
CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB Charlotte) — The Panthers used a third straight draft selection on trying to fill the void left behind by Josh Norman.
Carolina selected cornerback Zack Sanchez out of Oklahoma in the fifth round. Sanchez had 15 interceptions in three years with the Sooners.
“Carolina showed me the most interest of any team throughout this process. I didn’t know when it would be or how I would get there, but I just had the feeling that this would be the landing spot for me,” Sanchez told the team’s official website. “I’m a competitor. I understand that they’re my teammates, but I’m here to compete with anybody. And the better they compete, the better I’ll be. That will make us all better in the long run.”
Sanchez was drafted following Friday when the team nabbed James Bradberry out of Samford and Daryl Worley from West Virginia.
Carolina used its seventh round pick on Beau Sandland–a tight end from Montana State.
