10 Year-Old Makes Salad Gold With New Business
While most kids are spending their week-ends hanging out with friends, one Huntersville 5th grader is following her dreams and making money doing it!
10 year-old Aubree Dean and her mother Venitra are hard at work.
After Aubree found a salad recipe on-line, that would change their lives.
“She wanted something for lunch that week, so I made it for her and I said I wanted to make this as a business,” says Aurbree.
And business is booming. Aubree founded the company –Salads on the Go–along with some help from mom -they now spend week-ends making these delicious salads.
“The repeat customers it’s mind blowing. The amount of people that are buying the salads from her,” says Venitra.
“The salads are great, fantastic, we love them, we hope she continues,” says neighbor Dick Lamb.
The business has only been around for two months, and has grown from selling 30 jars to now filling nearly 100 orders this week.
Neighbor Dick Lamb is a repeat customer.
“My wife has to have knee surgery, knee replacement and this week is going to be particularly helpful for us. I can shake up a salad in the jar and it’ll be ready,” says Lamb.
“It feels good because I help people, sometimes they don’t have time to make food so I help them get food,” says Aubree.
Mom says it’s all about balance they do have play time too, but that her daughter is learning a valuable lesson.
“I tell her all the time you can do anything you want to do, you don’t let your race or sex hold you back and anything that you want to do you can do it,” says Venitra.
And for now Aubree is living the American dream, a young entrepreneur who is showing everyone that your never to young to make a difference.
