CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD is investigating an accident in Uptown Charlotte where a person hit a power pole in a stolen car and then took off on foot.
Around 6:53am Tuesday a driver ran into a power pole on W. 6th Street at N. Graham Street downing power lines. The driver then took off on foot before officers could arrive.
CMPD says the car was stolen and the driver was only 17-years-old.
Police are telling drivers to avoid West 6th Street at North Graham Street while officers investigate the accident.
No update on the suspect’s location at this time.
No estimate yet on how long the repairs to the power pole and lines will take.
