Classes Back In Session After Carbon Monoxide Scare

CORNELIUS, NC– Classes will be back in session tomorrow following a carbon monoxide scare at a school in Cornelius.

Firefighters evacuated J.V. Washam Elementary after an alarm went off in the cafeteria this morning.Crews found carbon monoxide levels close to 100 parts per million.

Anything above 35 parts per million is considered dangerous. Worried parents showed up to pick up their kids.

“When you take them to school every morning, you know, I don’t think there’s a morning that I don’t drop them off and think about the things that can happen.” said parent Heidi Poulton

No one got hurt. Students returned to class around two hours later.
