16yo Arrested for Threat That Caused High School Lock Down

NEWTON, N.C. — A former student is charged for making threats that forced a lock down at Newton-Conover High School.

Police chargedย 16-year-old James Driver after heย made the threat to twoย students on Wednesdayย morning via social media. The messageย said that they should not go to school and usedย an emoticon of a gun.

Driverย later admitted to police that he made the threat and was takenย into custody.

He isย charged with making a false report concerning mass violence on education property.
