16yo Arrested for Threat That Caused High School Lock Down

NEWTON, N.C. — A former student is charged for making threats that forced a lock down at Newton-Conover High School.

Police chargedΒ 16-year-old James Driver after heΒ made the threat to twoΒ students on WednesdayΒ morning via social media. The messageΒ said that they should not go to school and usedΒ an emoticon of a gun.

DriverΒ later admitted to police that he made the threat and was takenΒ into custody.

He isΒ charged with making a false report concerning mass violence on education property.
