CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte-based LGBT advocacy group is launching a campaign to focus on restroom safety and dignity for transgender citizens.

The Freedom Center for Social Justice (FCSJ) created the Yes, You Can Go! campaign. Charlotte businesses will let transgender citizens know that they can use the restroom facility that they identify with by posting signs that say, “YES, YOU CAN GO!”

Bishop Tonyia Rawls, Founder and Executive Director of the FCSJ noted that, “Recent anti-LGBT bills have gained notoriety throughout North Carolina and the South. These politically motivated actions have increased fear and reduced protections for some of the most vulnerable within our community.” She went on to say, “Yes, You Can Go! is being launched to counter the narrative that suggests some are entitled to protections and others, like trans citizens, are not.”
