New York could soon become the first state to ban the declawing of cats under a legislative proposal.
Veterinarians across the Empire State are split on the proposal.
Supporters say the procedure is unnecessary and cruel.
Meanwhile, the state’s veterinary medical society says the surgical procedure can often save cats with destructive scratching behavior from being euthanized.
