Kyle Busch Throw-Back Darlington Paint Scheme a Tribute to Interstate Batteries, Dale Jarrett

CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB Charlotte) –Kyle Busch will be showing love to a longtime sponsor and legend of the sport when he climbs into his No. 18 Toyota for the Bojangles Southern 500 on September 4.

Busch will drive a replica-design of the first car that Joe Gibbs Racing took to victory lane — a Interstate Battery sponsored car driven by Dale Jarrett during the 1993 Daytona 500.

It doesn’t matter what shades of paint that have been on JGR cars in 2016 — they have all seemed to find their way to victory lane. Joe Gibbs Racing has won six of the last seven races including three wins from the No. 18 Toyota.

“A lot (goes) to the communication and a lot to bringing on Carl Edwards last year,” Busch, the defending Sprint Cup champion said.  “All across the board it is unique to run as well as we are and we hope it continues.”

All four Joe Gibbs Racing cars have qualified for Saturday night’s All-Star race.
