Kuechly on rookie DBs: “They are good dudes”
CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB Charlotte) — Luke Kuechly will have a new line of defense playing behind him. And he’s not worried one bit.
Carolina drafted defensive backs James Bradberry, DJ Worley and Zack Sanchez with their second, third and fifth round picks, respectively. After the team released free agent pick-up Brandon Boykin on May 16, it exuded confidence in the players that were brought in.
Luke Kuechly echoed that sentiment on Monday at Mike Tolbert’s charity golf tournament.
“They are long, they look like they are athletic guys that are willing to learn and they are good dudes,” Kuechly said. “I think that’s really what matters. All three of those guys are going to come in and work as hard as they can. Coach (Steve) Wilks will get them ready to go and we are excited.”
Kuechly participated in Tolbert’s event in a limited capacity as he continues to recover from off-season shoulder surgery. He was paired with four golfers and acted as the team’s designated putter in the tournament.
Panthers will begin another session of OTAs on Tuesday. Kuechly, despite not being able to participate in any on-field activities, says he will be on the sidelines.
