Big things happened in the world of comics as Marvel released the first issue of their new “Captain America” story-line. All this coming shortly after the success of the “Captain America: Civil War” movie, which has made over a billion dollars worldwide. However, praise has not been as glowing for this new line of comics, which sees the patriotic superhero as a member of the Nazi organization Hydra.
Fans quickly responded on social media with both shock and disappointment. However, Marvel executive director Tom Brevoort has stated that he stands by the decision and claims that readers will have to simply continue reading.
Brevoort also discussed how the new comic will touch on current issues happening in both America and the larger world as a whole. Brevoort mentioned that the writers are always attempting to make the stories topical and that this current series seemed born out of the extreme political division seen in the current presidential race. It’s certainly a bold strategy for those involved with the series but Brevoort seems confident that readers will come around to the twist and that it will all make sense in the grand scheme of things.
