CHESTER, SC — One person is dead after an accident Thursday afternoon in Chester County.
Officials with South Carolina Highway Patrol say one person was killed after being hit head-on around 4:39pm Thursday on SC 97 near 1706 Hwy 97.
Troopers say William Brown, 40, of Chester was heading north on SC 97 when he crossed into oncoming traffic, sideswiping Steven Jones, 62, of Lugoff, SC, and then hitting the victim head-on.
Both Brown and Jones were wearing seat belts, but the victim was not. The victim was taken to Chester Regional Medical Center but later died from injuries.
No word yet on what caused the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
