Newly Opened Beach Draws Big Crowds at Lake Norman

CORNELIUS, NC – A newly opened beach on Lake Norman drew big crowds Saturday.
It’s at Ramsey Creek Park in Cornelius.

There’s about a half-acre swimming area.

“Short trip! 20 minutes from me. I’m from Charlotte. So, we don’t have to take a four hour drive,” says beachgoer Alicia Grier.

Officials say there’s room for about 500 swimmers, but only 130 parking spots.

Some beach-goers were turned away when parking spots ran out.

If you want to check out the new beach, summer hours run from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 pm.

The beach is staffed by lifeguards at all times.
