Zoo Kills Gorilla To Save 4-Year-Old, Critics Blame Boy’s Mother

A Cincinnati zoo is under fire, after killing a 17-year-old gorilla.

CHARLOTTE, NC–   A Cincinnati zoo is under fire, after killing a 17-year-old gorilla. Zoo workers killed 450-pound Harambe to save a 4-year-old boy who fell into the gorilla’s pen. Critics are blaming the boy’s mother for the animal’s death.

There is an online petition asking for criminal charges against the mother. The petition has more than 160,000 supporters.

The zoo says the security team’s quick response saved the boy’s life but all the zoo employees are devastated at losing a rare species.

Another online petition has been created for Harambe’s Law.  If the law passes, visitors could face legal consequences when an endangered animal is harmed or killed due to negligence.
