CHARLOTTE, N.C. — LocalsΒ broughtΒ chocolate chip cookies to fire stations inΒ honor of Richard Sheltra’s birthday.
Volunteer firefighter Richard Sheltra wasΒ killed while battling a fireΒ in Pineville on April 30th.Β He would turnΒ 21 on Thursday.
To honorΒ him, people wereΒ asked to bring chocolate chip cookies to their local fire department, police station, or emergency medical service on Thursday, June 2nd.
A Facebook groupΒ was created for the event. The page reads, “We often take for granted that these people do these jobs because they want to help people. They want to support people during the worst times of their lives.”
