Several studies released over the last few years claim that most kids quit team sports because they are no longer having fun.
There are many reasons for that.

Kids defined fun as trying their best, being treated respectfully by coaches, parents and teammates and getting playing time. Winning, earning medals or trophies and practicing with specialty trainers were less fun for kids.

Young athletes also say they quit because they are afraid to make mistakes. That leads to yelling and less playing time from coach and even some criticism from parents at home.
