Driver Cited in East Charlotte School Bus Crash

CHARLOTTE, NC — Officials have cited the driver of the school bus that crashed into a home, injuring 15 people.
The accident happened at Briardale Drive and Brook Canyon Drive around 9am Tuesday. The bus was from Randolph Middle School.
15 people suffered from non-life threatening injuries. No one was inside the home at the time of the accident.
After reviewing the GPS download from the bus, officials determined that the bus was traveling 29 mph just prior to the sharp curve. At the time the bus left the roadway in the curve, the bus was still traveling at 23 mph. This area is marked with a 10 mph warning sign due to the sharp curve.
The driver of the bus, Latoeya Patton, was cited Friday with traveling “Too Fast for Conditions.”
