MORGANTON, NC — A Burke County Sheriff’s Deputy is in serious condition after an accident early Thursday morning.
Officials with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office say the deputy was responding to an armed breaking and entering call around 2:57am Wednesday when he collided with another vehicle on HWY 18 North.
The deputy was driving with his blue lights and sirens. Deputies say the other vehicle was turning around in the roadway with their lights off.
The deputy was transported with serious injuries, and the driver of the other vehicle was taken with minor injuries.
NCSHP is investigating the accident.
