The York County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of Thursday evening’s fatal accident as 23-year-old Lacee Sullivan.
YORK COUNTY, SC — Troopers have charged the driver they say was responsible for a fatal accident Thursday evening on I-77.
Troopers say Jeannine Valdes, 35, of Rock Hill was heading north on I-77 around 7:35pm Thursday when she hit a car driven by 21-year-old Gabrielle Williams in the rear.
Both vehicles went off the right side of the road and down an embankment. Williams’ vehicle then overturned.
Williams’ passenger was trapped in the vehicle and crews had to cut the 23-year-old victim out. She was airlifted to CMC but later died from her injuries. Her name has not yet been released.
Williams was taken to CMC and is being treated, while Valdes was taken to Piedmont Medical Center for injuries.
Investigators say Williams, her passenger, and Valdes were all wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
Valdes has been charged with DUI resulting in Death.
