CORNELIUS, N.C. — Police have identified the woman who drown in Lake Norman over the weekend.
Investigators say Shakira Varner, 27, and another woman gained access to a private dock on Lake Norman. Β Officials believe Varner fell off the dock, into the water and did not resurface.
Rescue crews were able to locate Varner at the bottom of the lake. Β She was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The incident is still under investigation.
