“Yuck Factor” May Improve Hygiene
CHARLOTTE, NC — Disgusting photos of super-sized bacteria may prompt people to do a better job of washing your hands. Infection Prevention and Control Specialists at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit tested the “Yuck Factor.” They showed magnified images of bacteria on things like mouse pads and work stations. Even a person’s hand. The number of employees who washed their hands and followed other hygiene rules increased by almost 24 percent. The same study was presented at a health conference in Charlotte.
