Hundreds of Athletes Show for App State Elite Football Camp
CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB Charlotte) — More than 450 high school football players showed up at Appalachian State’s football camp at Charlotte Latin High School on Tuesday afternoon.
“We are obviously recruiting this area during the regular season,” App State football coach Scott Satterfield said. “We are so close. For us to come down here and put on the good instruction here in the city of Charlotte is big for these players, these high schools and the relationship with the high school coaches.”
Joining Scott Satterfield’s staff at the camp were coaches from many other schools, including Florida’s Jim McElwain and Penn State’s James Franklin. The other schools are using Appalachian State’s camp as a ‘satellite-camp’ in which they are special guest to work as instructors.
App State finished 11-2 last year and won its first ever bowl game they played in, the Camellia Bowl.
